The winners of the 2016 OHBA Awards of Distinction

The Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) announced the winners of the 2016 Awards of Distinction at its annual conference in Collingwood. Tridel received top honours, winning the 2016 Ontario Home Builder of the Year Award.

Tridel received this prestigious award due to their commitment to building sustainable communities, their involvement and initiatives within the communities in which they build, and their dedication to premium customer service.

In a recent release, OHBA highlights a couple Tridel initiatives, including BOLT and the YMCA milk crate farm project. BOLT (Building Opportunities for Life Today) is an initiative to connect at-risk youth with careers in construction. With over $1.2 million raised to provide 168 scholarships, this program has been a huge success!

Tridel sponsored the YMCA project, which is a 1,500 milk crate farm near the Youth shelter neighbouring the master-planned revitalization development, Alexandra Park SQ. 30 youth and 100 volunteers produced 400 pounds of organic produce!

Tridel has two major master-planned communities in the works in Toronto right now; Alexandra Park and Bayside Toronto. Alexandra Park is a revitalization project near Queen and Spadina, featuring new condo buildings and townhomes. Bayside Toronto (top image) is a luxury waterfront community in Toronto’s east end, which features many new condos and commercial space overlooking Lake Ontario.

Another big winner was Minto, who won four awards (Project of the Year – High or Mid-Rise, Most Outstanding High-Rise Building, Best High or Mid-Rise Ad Campaign, and Best High or Mid-Rise Project Sales Brochure).

“We’re thrilled to have won OHBA project of the year for Minto Westside,” says Amanda Wilson Watkins, VP Marketing & Sales at Minto. “The sales of Minto Westside have been phenomenal and have exceeded our expectations. The first move-ins will be fall of 2018, so it’s right around the corner!”
